Every year around Christmas it is always the same question: beach or mountain holidays?! Is a lovely skiing trip in the powdery slopes of St Moritz a good idea with mulled wine and pretty chalets? Or does tanning in St Barth sounds better? And if it’s not St Barth, there are a multitude of white sand beaches and tropical islands waiting in the Caribbean or even Dubai.
Where ever you decide to go, it will be luxurious and demanding for your wardrobe. Now is the time to start working on your wish list; maybe Santa will bring you that last bikini or fur you decided not to treat yourself with.
If the magical glitz of St Moritz or the stylish slopes of Courchevel won, you will be looking at winter essentials to spice up a cold night and active day. Few places in the world are as glamorous as a ski resort, and you may want to up your look just for this vacation: the catwalk begins at breakfast, when everybody is gearing up for the slopes after eggs benedict and avocado toast. This is the perfect time to wear a warm slim cut overall pants-suit. Chloe and Moncler rule this specific fashion niche, you definitely can’t go wrong with them. Combine that with a print sweater and moon boots by Aquazzura or Moncler, and you already have a head start. Of course your look would not be ready without this year’s latest craze, a cool print hat, preferably by Chloe, Tak Ori or Markus Lupper. Finish your performance with a colourful ski jacket by Fendi or Moncler. That way people can admire your expertise on the mountain side, or at least find you if you’re not that great a skier and rolled down the wrong slope.
There is also the possibility that you do not intend to actually exercise, and the small mountain cities do have enough to offer and entertain. Here you would opt for a shearling coat – Chloe absolutely aced it this year – or maybe a combination of fur and wool by Moncler or Marni. Warm and definitely cool shearling boots (Miu Miu, Loro Piano, Laurence Dacade) topped by a knitted scarf and cap. However you plan to spend your days, you will be looking absolutely fabulous as well as comfortable.

Taking an exotic beach holiday definitely will have you packing lighter and less, but not necessarily simple. So if you want to impress your friends with a glowing tan and tales of spearfishing, you should most definitely pack the one thing you can’t go without: a bikini. What am I saying – not A bikini, BIKINIS! Plural. In all shapes, and colours and fabrics. You need a bikini to swim in, one to sunbath in, a bikini for beach parties and one for romantic walks. A pool bikini and a beach bikini. That practically covers your wardrobe for the Maldives, the Caribbean or the Seychelles. Expose yourself to the sun, tank up on vitamin D, bath in the foaming sea. And if you must leave the beach or you enjoy variety, sunglasses, light silk dresses and tunica’s will take care of the rest. Bring along some wedges in your beach bag, and a light bronzer, and you can go straight to dinner and a sundowner. With the sun on your team you can keep it fresh and natural!
