The last few years I have spent too much time searching high and low for perfect gifts. Valentine’s Day was especially challenging for me because nothing could really reflect how much I loved and cared for my husband. I would plan months in advance and still end up buying something last minute because I wasn’t 100% happy with what I came up with. All in all, it was sometimes quite stressful, and I was never fully content.

This year, after launching my second company and traveling to 5 different company in January alone, it hit me like a ton of bricks: the most precious thing I have and can give to my loved ones is MY TIME!Flowers, jewellery, lingerie and the likes are beautiful gifts heavy with the symbolism of Valentine’s Day, and I will never say no to them – I’m too much of a mushy girl that way – but sometimes the most precious things are right there in front of us. We just have to see them and not take them for granted.

Spending time with them, phone off and unavailable for the world, is what my family and I need -and what will make cherished memories for forever. This in mind I asked my husband if he would be free to take a small trip with me instead of presents and his reaction was so enthusiastic that I knew I had found the holy grail of our relationship.

On top of my little epiphany I had a creative idea: why not give your children a Valentine’s Day gift as well?! Who is closer to a mother’s heart than the little monsters and angels we call our children? I added some cute ideas for boys ,big boys and girls to make Valentine’s Day a family celebration of love, here are 5 choices for you, please let me know what you think in the comments below and share what you are doing on Valentine’s Day?
